Hi everyone! I'm writing this en route to the U.S. Coffee Championships where we'll be competing in the national brewer's cup competition for the third time! And to celebrate competition season, we have one more special release to share with yinz. This is yet another fantastic Colombian coffee from our friends at Cofinet and the Arcila family. Say hello to the Anaerobic natural Sudan Rume from Felipe Arcila and Jardines Del Eden.
This is a coffee that was sourced for competition and on the cupping table it was often our favorite of the competition lots we had this year. Coffee competitions are a weird thing though and we went in a different direction. That's another story for another day. The first thing you'll notice here is the intense pineapple and mango aroma emanating from the beans. That's right. This coffee has massive aromatics before it's even been ground. Those tropical fruits will carry over to the cup with some subtle florals when the coffee is hot. As the cup cools, we pick up big notes of blueberry candy. The acidity is elegant and rises in intensity as the cup cools. Our favorite part of this coffee is finish, which is lasting and sticky sweet.
